Sarah Marie Kramer is fast establishing herself as a formidable talent on the operatic stage, specifically, as one of the up and coming young, highly dramatic sopranos. Sarah Marie’s celebrated and successful debut as Sieglinde at Longborough Festival Opera’s Die Walküre clearly marked her way into the great Wagner Fach. Strauss and Wagner are the composers who have continued to play a major role in her continuing artistic development.
Sarah Marie's 2024 is dominated by her covers of Isolde at the Glyndebourne Festival Opera, and Brünnhilde in Opera Basel's Ring Cycle, as well as debuting Dritte Norn and returning with Gerhilde. In May Sarah Marie makes her Wiener Konzerthaus debut as Magna Peccatrix in Mahler's Symphonie No.8. Since November 2023, Sarah Marie is generously supported by The Olga Forrai Foundation for Emerging Dramatic Voices of New York City. In 2023 Sarah Marie was invited to sing Helmwige (Die Walküre) by the Semper Oper in the revival of Willy Decker’s Ring Cycle, under the baton of the world’s preeminent Wagner conductor, Christian Thielemann. Sarah Marie made her concert debut of Richard Strauss’ Vier Letzte Lieder at the Richard Strauss Tage 2023 with Remy Ballot in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. This select invitation comes from the Richard Strauss Institute led by the Strauss Family. She is a singer notable for ‘luxuriant vocal delivery’ and a stage presence that was ‘Standout ..Sarah Marie Kramer blew me away with the passion of her Sieglinde" Sarah Marie has appeared under the direction of Christian Thielemann, Jonathan Nott, Leo McFall, Elias Grandy, Richard Egarr, Masaaki Suzuki, Reinbert de Leeuw, Anthony Negus, Friedemann Layer and Thomas Rösner, among others. Her international festival appearances include the Richard Strauss Tage, Longborough Festival Opera, Aldeburgh Festival and the Oxford Lieder Festival. In 2020, Sarah Marie debuted at Vienna’s Schönberg Centre. At the Bayreuth Festival, she was one of four singers chosen as a Meisterkurs singer. Sarah Marie earned her Bachelor and Master of Music degrees at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag, the Netherlands. She is a graduate of the DNOA Amsterdam’s Opera Certificate. Sarah Marie was a finalist in the prestigious Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition for young Wagnerians, and Munich’s International Richard Strauss Wettbewerb. 2025 will mark the release of Sarah Marie’s debut CD of Wagner and Strauss orchestral Lieder with the Dresden Chamber Soloists from the Staatskapelle Dresden.
